Todays Foodie Tip: Tomahawk Tuesday at Prime52
**Your boy is trying a new content format for the foodie tip. I’d love if you reply with your opinion if you prefer this full “extra sprinkles” version or the regular shoutouts.
DubaiBFF here, launching my first proper food review because, well, someone's gotta keep it real in this city of perfectly filtered food pics, right?
So here's what went down when we hit up Prime52 for my dad's birthday because the man wanted a proper steak, and who am I to argue with birthday wishes?
The place is rocking this 1990s steakhouse vibe that's about as subtle as a vampire at a blood drive, but in a weirdly charming way.
Like finding out your grandmother used to be in a punk band.
And honestly?
After all these new spots trying so hard to be Instagram-worthy, it's kind of refreshing.
They start you off with this bread situation - sourdough and rye with two types of butter.

One butter's just living its best regular butter life, while the other's been smoked and salted like it spent a gap year finding itself in a BBQ joint. Dad couldn't stop eating the smoked one, by the way.
The sommelier (that's fancy-speak for "person who knows way too much about grape juice") hooked us up with this Sangre de Toro wine (after talking at length about wine pairings or alien invasions or something in a french accent (which makes all food taste better riiiiight?)
…Which I didn’t understand much.
But the wine had the coolest name of the 3 to choose from and really did fit well with the rest of the meal. So, a win for the sommelier.

Perfect birthday dinner wine, if you're asking me.
Then comes the star of this meat-opera - the Tomahawk steak.

Picture the kind of steak that makes other steaks feel inadequate. It's a solid eight-out-of-ten, which is exactly what you want from a proper steakhouse.
The sides were... present. Caesar salad, veggies, potatoes - all doing their best "we belong here" impression.
For dessert, they brought out this apple strudel that was trying really hard to make us forget about the steak we just had.

The pastry was flakier than a chronic procrastinator, and the caramel sauce was doing things that probably require a permit. Dad gave it his seal of approval, and the man knows his strudel.
Bottom line: If you're looking for a solid Tomahawk Tuesday spot that knows exactly what it is and nails it, Prime52's your jam. Just remember to bring your appetite. Also, maybe wear stretchy pants.
Trust me on this one - your food-obsessed friend who's just trying to keep it real in a city of endless options.

Dad's verdict: "Best birthday steak in a while." And that's saying something.
My verdict: Come with a sense of humor if you’re not used to old school fancy places. But food was great and solid value for money if you want to spend ca 700 aed on ‘the occasion’.
My verdict: DO TRY
